Below are general questions about Trail Pass
Q: What do you intend to do with the monies that each club member will be giving to BCORMA Trail Pass? A: There seems to be some misunderstanding of what money is what and where it is going.
It is totally up to the club how they spend that money on trail stewardship. Hopefully they will work with BCORMA to come up with projects that industry and Governments want to also fund, leveraging the funds so we can get lots done on the ground. As an example from this past year, Mike Peters has contributed signage stakes and kiosks at Vedder Mountain, BCORMA accessed $4,000 from COHV for the actual signs, and the Vedder Mountain Trails Association & CORMC are donating $11,000 of volunteer time to sign trails on the whole mountain. This will include some hiking only trails for goodwill and environmental reasons. The Government and COHV are increasingly requiring funding partnerships for the trail funds that they will contribute. It also shows that, as riders, we are serious about our trails, and are making a financial commitment to them. With the increased requirements for environmentally sustainable trails, will come the need for capital and professional expertise to build and maintain these trails. Thats takes cold hard cash. $10 will go towards BCORMA's continued sourcing of funds for trail stewardship, and most
Q: Will there be a card, sticker or some type of receipt given to you when you pay for a pass? I understand the logic with the pass (all for it), just don't want to be paying it every time I sign up for a different club! A: The BCORMA is a helmet sticker 2.5 inches around. It has the year it is valid/paid for punched out on the decal. By being a helmet pass you can ride your trials bike today, and your vintage Husky tomorrow without have to have a pass on each. The clubs recognize this and have said they will give credit to members who already have a pass for the year. But this is up to each club how they implement it with their members. This is not a top-down program, but driven by each club and rider. We have to remember BCORMA is the clubs, each club has a Director, who then collectively decides BCORMA's direction. Q:What happens if I own 10 bikes and my whole family rides is there a cap or multiple pass setup? A: The BCORMA is a helmet sticker 2.5 inches around. It has the year it is valid/paid for punched out on the decal. By being a helmet pass you can ride your trials bike today, and your vintage Husky tomorrow without have to have a pass on each. The Pass is $30/yr for adults and free for those under 18 years old. Ontario Trail Riders tried a family program for their membership and there were those that abused it, and they ended up with rules on top of rules. Went to a simple go - no go system. We are doing the same. The local MX track charges $350 per year for memberships, so I think a family paying $60 to support environmentally sustainable, fun, challenging, signed, and mapped trails, plus staging facilities is a bargain.
