FVDRA's 24 HOUR DIRT BIKE MARATHON

The 2011 24Hr Marathon is happening!!

The historic event at the Tailings Pond near Hope, BC for you, your family and your friends is back. Starts August 4th at noon until August 5th at 12 noon. Yes this the August long weekend. Brought ...to you by the Fraser Valley Dirt Bik...e Association. Have you ever thought what it would be like to form a team of up to 6 riders and then spend 24 hours riding your dirt bike (sorry, no quads this year, trials bikes okay) on an off-road race course. Use as many bikes as the team chooses, each team member can ride their own or use several team bikes. The sights, gallons of Gatorade, the sounds, riding throughout the night, the festive atmosphere with team members, the bonding and lifelong memories with friends.

The 24-hour marathon is unlike any other event. Although it is a race, in that participants ride as many laps as possible in a 24-hour period, you ride as a team with two to six team members. This year, even an expert team can have up to 6 team members, or unless you want to try to be an iron-man and ride the entire event alone. WOW, alone would sure be a challenge.

One rider represents your team on the course at any time. Each team will have an armband containing a transponder, which the official team rider will wear to record team laps recorded electronically. Remember that the atmosphere is more casual than most races, because each team member only rides a portion of the event.

The 24-hour marathon will be a unique experience and one that will create memories for participants that will last a lifetime. The challenge is not only against the other teams and individuals but against the clock, as well as the terrain, fatigue, and the mind. So get your team together and register for this event as soon as possible. Entries will be limited to 70 teams.

The two courses will be for two wheels only; one is called the Marathon course and the other the Raffle course. Expert, Intermediate, Weekend Warrior, Marathon Ironman riders will race on the Marathon course. There will be no sportsman. And you guessed it; the Novices, young people, or just for fun teams will race on the Raffle course. See the Marathon rules section for details. There will only be one event on the Raffle course.

Sign up before July 5, 2012 to insure you will get a t-shirt for each team member. You can do this online and pay by pay pal. You can get your team package early.
